PRELIMINARY NOTICE
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
TUESDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2016
AT 6PM
MEADOWBANK INN, MONTROSE ROAD, ARBROATH DD11 5RA

You are cordially invited to attend our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 28 February 2016 at the Meadowbank Inn, Montrose Road, Arbroath.  Stovies or sandwiches/sausage rolls and refreshments will be available from 5.15pm.

Nominations are invited for Branch Officer posts and a brief outline of the duties of these posts are enclosed.  Any nominations should be made using the enclosed pro-forma and returned to UNISON Freepost (AB048), 7 Alford Place, Aberdeen, AB10 1ZQ no later than Tuesday 31 January 2017. Should they be required, elections will take place prior to AGM and results will be notified at the meeting.

Nominations are also invited for stewards. At such a critical time for UNISON members who face unprecedented cuts to jobs and services, it has never been so important for our voices to be heard. Our stewards provide the vital link between members and the union both at a branch level and nationally and are fully trained and supported in their role.

If you are interested in becoming steward in your workplace or department but would like more information or an informal chat about what the role entails, then please do not hesitate to contact us using the details at the top of this notice. We would particularly welcome new or returning stewards who are employed as support staff in Angus schools, work at Rossie School or are Social Care Officers working for the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership either with the Council or a private care provider. Nominations for stewards should also be submitted to the UNISON Freepost address above by no later than Tuesday 31 January 2017.

Please note that if you are currently a steward and wish to continue as one in 2017, you should complete a new nomination form and return it to UNISON in Aberdeen.

Motions and any other business for consideration at the Annual General Meeting are also invited from members.  These should be submitted to the UNISON Freepost address (or by email at GrampianResourceCentre@unison.co.uk) again by no later than Tuesday 31 January 2017.  Motions should be signed by at least two members. If you need assistance or advice about submitting issues to the meeting, please feel free to get in touch with either the Branch Office or the Regional Office in Aberdeen.

The agenda for the Annual General Meeting will be issued to members by 7 February 2017.

UNISON is your union and exists to provide representation, assistance and services to its members, working for better pay and conditions for workers and an improvement in the quality of public services. UNISON is vehemently opposed to cuts to jobs and services and campaigns vigourously about these issues both nationally and locally. The AGM is therefore your opportunity to find out what UNISON has been working towards in the last 12 months and your chance to have a say in the direction the branch will take in 2017.

Finally, the first 30 members arriving at the AGM on 28 February will receive a UNISON ‘goodie bag’, one of which will contain a gift voucher for £50.00.

We look forward to meeting you at our Annual General Meeting!
